Don Diablo – Knight Time

This track feels old in a really good way. The production quality is certainly current, but damn if it doesn’t seem like this was made in the late 80s or early 90s in Chicago. The track just has that great classic Chicago House sound. Really digging it. A simple bass-line, edgy synths, hand claps, prototypical female yell, and when the open hi-hats enter at one minute in…Yeeow! Grab a copy for yourself right here.

Tycho – Dye

I grabbed this beautiful gem off Tycho’s sunrise set during the recent Burning Man. I can only imagine the great feeling you’d have with this track playing as the sun rose in the Nevada desert. Make sure to listen through until the drop at 3:30, it gets me every time. Grab it free here.

 

Orbital – Halcyon (Live)

The first mashup I ever heard and loved, way back in 1996. This great live mashup interlude with Bon Jovi and Belinda Carlisle during their track Halcyon went viral (to the extent that it was possible in 1996) and these days the live version is generally viewed as being even better than the original. The track is great before the break and I highly recommend it, but I’ve skipped ahead to the mashup. As always, grab it free here.

Brooke Duff – Live (Loyal Sessions)

I first heard of Brooke Duff from her cameo on the K.One track “Same You”. I looked into her other music, and while it’s generally a bit too fluffy-pop for my taste, the tracks are certainly catchy, and I actually enjoy them in this live setting. Sure it’s pop of the somewhat corny variety, but it’s a guilty pleasure of mine and I think she should get some appreciation outside of New Zealand.
