This is just a great country track. Not sure what else to say about it. It just stands out from a lot of the other crap that top country playlists are full of.
Month: September 2019
Lauv – Fuck I’m Lonely
I heard this track through my periodic browsing of the UK Top 100 and this was near the bottom at the time but was clearly a standout amongst a number a shitty tracks. It has since risen for good reason and I’m a big fan.
Maggie Rogers – Light On
To go along with my idea that these days great music can be heard in all sorts of ways, I first heard Maggie Rogers’ newest release through a funny Instagram Live broadcast via John Mayer. Granted I’ve been a fan of hers for awhile, but I loved the laid back context of the show John Mayer made and her subsequent performance on it and my favorite bit of the video is when John Mayer secretly orchestrated a harmony amongst the group during the chorus (which you can first hear about :54 seconds in) in which Maggie was unaware and her surprise laugh and enjoyment upon hearing it makes the video all the better. The actual release is below this live video.
Eric Prydz/Pryda – Inox/Midnight City
I first heard the the Eric Prydz remix of Midnight City by M83 live and then recently heard the live mashup of Inox into the Midnight City Remix on a youtube live video and was blown away by how well they complement each other. Just as I was going to make the edit myself, Pryda/Eric Prydz saw the inevitable and released his live version mashup of the two songs himself. Enjoy!
Luke Combs – Must’ve Never Met You & This One’s For You
The first album by Luke Combs has just grown and grown since it’s first release in 2017 and has grown even more since the re-release with even more tracks in 2018. These are two of my favorites that you may not have heard yet.
Hyolyn – You Know Better & See Sea
I first heard Hyolyn as I was digging around information about a producer couple in LA that I liked and subsequently found a youtube video of them working with a Kpop artist named Hyolyn. Through that track I also heard a previous release by her entitled “See Sea” and I thought I’d show both releases including the studio video during the making of the newer release. They are both fantastic in their own way.
Sigrid – Plot Twist
Despite loving Sigrid, somehow I missed this track until I listened to her recent Glastonbury show. It’s a fantastic older track of hers and I’m annoyed that I hadn’t listened to it sooner. Enjoy!
Charlie Worsham – Young To See
I first heard this track on the television show “Bones”. It’s funny how and where you hear tracks that you like, but I’m a believer that you need to be open to all avenues to encounter new music. Great songs can appear in all sorts of ways and I’m happy that I searched for this track after hearing it in a television show. I hope you realize how fantastic it is just like I did.
Avicii – Heaven
There seemed to be one clear standout from Avicii’s posthumous album and that was the unreleased track he made with Chris Martin back in 2014 and never got around to releasing. Unfortunately it took Tim’s passing to hear this fantastic track but despite the circumstances it’s a great song nonetheless.
