A really cool new track from NYC based Penguin Prison (Chris Glover). Known mostly for his remixes, I think he’s got some serious credentials in the original track department as well. I guess I’d describe the music as indie-dance or maybe electro-pop. Anyway that you want to describe it, listen more with your own copy here.

Lucy Spraggan – Lighthouse
Good solid UK pop for ya. A superbly catchy song from a year ago, but if you haven’t heard it before, you’re welcome. Enjoy! Oh yeah, it’s free here.
Daughter – Candles
I saw this band play live in Australia before I had ever heard of them and directly after the show I went home and downloaded their entire first album. They have a really subtle and enticing sound. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but they remind me of Mumford and Sons, not with the folksy twang, but with the slow build throughout the entire song. Check it out, and make sure to give it proper attention as the song pulls you in deeper the longer you listen. Grab it here.
Michael Jackson – The Way You Make Me Feel (Kawehi Cover)
A really well done looping cover of a classic MJ song. Always enjoyable to hear all the pieces come together.
Ed Sheeran – Don’t
Certainly not a hidden gem or anything of that sort, but I do enjoy this track. Kind of pop, certainly some rock, and even a sort of hip hop vibe to the verse as well. All over the place Mr. Sheeran. Grab it here.
Family Of The Year – Hero
I just finished watching “Boyhood”, and if you’ve seen it, I’m sure you’ll remember the track towards the end of the film (the road-trip sequence); one of the defining songs in that great soundtrack. I sometimes get bored or too sad listening to music in this genre, but this one stands out for really being melancholy and optimistic at the same time. No easy task. Take a listen and grab it free here.
Mumford & Sons – Lover Of The Light
This is one of my favorites off their newest album. I saw them live in Australia and they were phenomenal. They kept playing different instruments throughout the set, and this song is no different, with Marcus Mumford on the drums for this track. Nothing new here, but a great tune nonetheless.
Coeur De Pirate – Saint Laurent
I love Coeur De Pirate. This is a song is off her second album “Blonde”, but her first self titled is equally brilliant. If you like this there are plenty of other great tracks.
BOY – LITTLE NUMBERS
A cute video from the band BOY performing their single “Little Numbers” at the Union Hall in Brooklyn. The band is caught off guard when the crowd starts to sing their chorus. Nice song too!
THE 1975 – CHOCOLATE
I just can’t get this song out of my head. It’s really damn good. Not much else to say other than that. Enjoy.
